Your Ancestor's Story

8 hours of research and story - $250

   This includes a half hour call to discuss what can be done next

 

additional story hours - $30/hr


Family Tree

Up to 2 hours of simple tree, whatever I can find that's easy to locate for a specific branch of family (i.e. just maternal line) -  $50

Communication after I draw up the tree and send it to you

and let you know where I think I can go from there, and what

will take more time.  Could be an email, text, or up to 15 minute phone call.

Specific Work by the hour

Pay as we go, rates by the hour - $35

We will probably start with an agreed amount of hours, 

and see what I am finding, and then discuss what kind of end product 

you want out of the research.

This includes communication by call, text, or email with updates to let you know where I am with the research, and where my research seems to be leading.


Travel

Travel rates - .30/mi (?)

If I am requested to do some local research and travel there (i.e. local/state 

libraries, cemeteries, churches etc.) charges will be assessed for 

distance and research time at location.  Travel is restricted to 2? hours one way.


* All research includes communication if I need to clarify something I have found, if you have some knowledge about it. *


* I will let you know if we should need to pay for vital records

 from a county or contact a researcher at the National Archives 

to get specific documentation, or any additional expenses 

that may be of interest.*


EVERY RESEARCH PROJECT WILL BE DIFFERENT!!  EVERYONE HAS DIFFERENT DOCUMENTATION.  SOME PROJECTS WILL HAVE MORE THAN OTHERS.  SOME WILL BE MORE DIFFICULT THAN OTHERS.  PEOPLE DO NOT EVEN ALWAYS SHOW UP WHERE AND WHEN YOU EXPECT THEM TO IN THE HISTORICAL RECORD.

Can you find out who my Italian grandparents were? 
​--> I am currently unable to do much research outside of the US.  I may be able to help you if your grandparents and beyond were from The Netherlands.  I am expecting to be able to do research in the UK and possibly Australia soon.
I was adopted as a baby.  Can you help me find my father?
​--> I am unable to help you locate recent relatives within about the last 50 years.  There are some different routes you can take to help find adopted relatives.  One is genealogical DNA, which is very popular these days.  Another is to attempt to locate adoption records, which I am unable to assist you with.  You would have to find an adoption specialist for that.
Can you help me with my DNA ancestry stuff?
​--> I currently have not done any work in that area.  There are other genealogists who can help you with that.
My Great Uncle did a lot of genealogical research 30 years ago, but couldn't find the parents of his 3rd great-grandparents.  Can you help me get past this brick wall?
​--> Maybe!  There is a good chance I may be able to dig around and find some documentation he was unable to access at that time!  I may be able to knock down that wall and get you 4 more generations beyond that!  I would love to try to help you!  

​If I am verifying research, I'd prefer to start fresh.  I'd ask you to give me a starting point of ancestors with basic information, and I will conduct my own research which could be compared to the research already conducted to see how it compares.  I will have my documentation to support my findings and all of this can be compared to the research you have.
